The upward spiraling motion of this lamp is intended to be symbolic of growth, change and an embracing of transfiguration as a state of being. It was made in two parts; the carved base which has multiple spaces for the cord to come out of, and the sculpture which acts as a lantern over the light bulb. The crystal-matte glazes enhance the textures and edges especially well on this piece with cool colors inspired by Lake Superior and warm areas inspired by the shorelines.
